It has been established that heating pads are practical in relieving tenderness for those with arthritic pain, but several studies have demonstrated that heating pads are significant tools in combating several other debilitating conditions, from sports injuries to kidney stones; the utilization of heat can facilitate the remedial process.

In 2003, Dr. Dean Edell, performed a study indicative of the efficient nature of heating pads for kidney stones.
“This study found a heating pad effective for patients with kidney stone pain… warming decreases trauma pain in emergency care,” he affirmed. Dr. Edell acknowledged that the purpose of the study was to illustrate how “…local warming of the abdomen and lower back region could decrease pain in acute renal colic cases…”
Other studies have illustrated that heating pads can be beneficial in hastening the healing process for a variety of ailments. Writer, Lizzy Hatpail, states in her article, “Apply Heating Pads to an Injury to Aid Healing”, that heating pads have the potential to alleviate anything from clogged sinuses to sports injuries.
Heating pads are evidently a trouble-free and efficient means of instantly alleviating pain, as well as hastening the healing process. For those who suffer from diabetes and endure chronic joint pain, heating pads are often a useful and non-invasive tool, for pain relief.

Lombago, or significant low back pain as it is frequently referred to, is a prodigious, and incredibly pertinent issue in today’s society. In a life span, approximately 80% of individuals are likely to endure some form of this condition. This is predominantly true for the elderly and those who suffer from Osteoporosis.

Lombago is a type of musculoskeletal disorder, which can agitate soft tissue and compromise healthy muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and nerves in an otherwise healthy individual. The actual pain can be brought on by some kind of injury or nervous tension in the lower back, and occurs in three different forms. Acute Lombago is a severe pain that can manifest itself in discontinuous episodes of as little as 4 weeks. There are also Subacute periods of Lombago which can last up to 3 months, finally for an individual who continuously suffers from lower back pain, their condition would be classified as Chronic Lombago.

Lombago can be especially detrimental to patients with diabetes; particularly because the most frequently utilized medications for treatment of chronic lower back pain can affect the kidneys, liver and heart. Two of the most commonly employed drugs to remedy Lombago are NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug), as well as Acetaminophens. Used habitually and in extremely high dosages, these medications may potentially lead to gastrointestinal problems, renal failure, and or cardiovascular disease. Individuals dealing with diabetes are already at a high risk for these maladies. Essentially speaking, it is perhaps in the best interest of the individual living with diabetes to experiment with organic remedies to aid in treatment as their initial course of action. Organic remedies denoting leading a healthy, and active lifestyle as well as utilizing tools such as back braces, to ease discomfort and pain.

It has been extensively implied that mechanisms, which supply electric muscle stimulation, are capable of aiding patients with various cardiovascular conditions as well as patients suffering from neuropathy. For those individuals who are confined to the home, or are unable to participate in normal physical activity due to a variety of health issues, electric muscle stimulation can be exceedingly advantageous.

The verity that muscle stimulation aids in the treatment of neuropathy is especially pertinent to patients with diabetes, particularly because several major debilitating effects of diabetes are nerve, bone and joint damage.

Some reports have recently asserted that electric muscle stimulation may also be expedient to those with cardiovascular conditions. Leading medical journalist, and registered nurse Deborah Leader, has maintained that, pending further investigation, neuromuscular stimulation can potentially help patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Since individuals with diabetes often suffer from chronic muscle and joint pain, as well as heart conditions, it is pertinent to know that electric muscle stimulation may be beneficial in maintaining blood circulation, as well as keeping muscles and nerves operational. It is always important to remember that not only should individuals treat their diabetes, but also maintain and remedy the effects of diabetes on the body, subsequently ensuring a healthy and contented way of life
