Review:
The Advocate blood sugar testing machines come equipped with all accessories required for testing ones diabetes sugar. These items include a highly developed, compact lancing device. The new Advocate lancing device is equipped for alternate site testing with an easy to use AST clear cap to utilize on hands, thighs, calves, and arms, as well as a standard cap for fingertip testing. There are 5 different piercing levels ranging from 1 to 5 developed specifically for optimal comfort, as well as a simple to use cocking mechanism and discharge button for quick and easy lancing. The Advocate lancing device also includes a groundbreaking feature, aptly branded the eject button, which allows the patient to use and dispose of the lancet without ever having to handle it.
To prepare for lancing it is highly recommended that the patient cleanse the test site area with an alcohol swab or soap and warm water. After the area has been sanitized then it is time to twist off the lancing device cap. Once the cap is off insert the lancet choose the preferred piercing setting by twisting the cap, and position the lancing device against the clean test site area at an inverted angle for use. Slide the cocking device back until a clicking sound is heard, and then press the release. Wipe first drop of blood off, and then pinch area to retrieve another drop of blood, subsequently place this sample of blood on the test strip for assessment of blood glucose. For sanitary and easy disposal of the lancet replace the cap back on to the lancet, and utilize the release button to discard.
