Advocate Meter Questions:
Why does my meter not turn on when I insert the strip?
First, check the brand of the strip, then check the position of the strip. The side with the Advocate name has to face you and the arrow will be pointing down. Insert the square end in the hole and do not touch any buttons, the meter will turn on automatically. If the meter is still not working make sure the batteries were recently replaced and positioned in the correct way.
Why am I getting the E-U Error?
The may appear if you are using the wrong strip, the Advocate meters only work with the Advocate strips. If you are using the correct strips, try a new strip. Also make sure you are not applying blood too soon, always wait until the blood drop is blinking on the screen.
Why is the meter not giving me a reading after I apply blood?
There may not be enough blood or in the correct place. Always make sure you are applying the blood at the tip of the strip and that the confirmation box is filled. Try one more time with a new strip.
Why am I getting readings with a decimal point?
The wrong measurement is selected. Open the battery compartment in the back of the meter, with Model 4223 you will find the set button, on Model 3223, the set button is on the side of the meter. With the meter off, press the set button one time, numbers will appear on the screen. To get to the correct screen and correct the measurement unit, press the set button 5 times slowly. After this you will see “mmol/L” blinking on the right hand side of the screen, press the “M” button on the front of the meter to change to “mg/dL”. To exit the “Set Mode” just press and release the set button until the meter goes off.
Why is the meter not turning on after I replaced the batteries?
Make sure the position of the batteries is correct, the “-” is touching the spring. Also make sure you are using 2 (two) “AAA” batteries 1.5 volts and make sure they Alkaline. Also do not use rechargeable batteries.
Why does my meter keep flashing numbers after I changed the battery?
You are “Set Mode” and you must press and hold the Set button until the meter turns off.
Why does my meter not tell me to apply blood to the strip after it is turned on?
Make sure you do not push any buttons before you insert the strip, this will only turn on the meter but it will not go any further. Make sure the meter is off before you insert the test strip and the meter will automatically turn on in order to test your blood glucose.
Why does my meter not have a voice?
First check the model of your meter. TD4223E, TD4223A and TD3223E are our talking meters. If you have one of those model numbers and you are still not able to hear a voice, make sure the volume is adjusted to a reasonable volume for you to hear.
